Rotary International President Jennifer Jones and her husband Nick Krayacich along with Bryn and Randy Styles visited our District as part of her Imagine Rotary Canada Tour. She arrived in Winnipeg to a rousing Rotary 5550 welcome at the James Richardson International Airport in Winnipeg, just after 10 AM on July 6.

She and Nick were whisked away to a tree planting and lunch with 30 members of the Rotary Leadership Circle program in Winnipeg.

Jennifer then went to the Hotel Fort Garry where she hosted “Around the District” for 90 minutes. 23 of our Clubs made presentations live or by pre-recorded video or by zoom. Jennifer was very impressed with the quality of service that we are providing in District 5550. A recording of this event is on our District website: https://rotary5550.org/

The Canadian Museum of Human Rights was next on the agenda with a guided tour, followed by a free to all BBQ in Central Park. Hundreds of local people and Rotarians enjoyed hotdogs and ShelterBox representatives Claire and Ron Noseworthy helped MA MAWI WI CHI ITATA Centre and URCOM collect goods for people in need.

Jennifer’s visit was completed with an 8 AM to 10 AM breakfast on July 7 where she provided a very inspiration address following greetings from Lieutenant Governor Filman, Mayor Bowman and Niigaan Sinclair.

Jennifer had wanted to visit the centre of Canada, but the program was just too tight. Thank you to Jorrel Camuyong’s creative talent, we were able to include her in a photo:
