Club President Paul Gauthier described his club’s culture with one word -“schizophrenic” -------

  1. Sixty percent of the club members are active and fully engaged.
  2.  25% have limited to no involvement (come sporadically to meetings, but attend events and hands-on projects and fundraisers; characterized as “been there - done that” or focused on priorities other than Rotary).
  3. 15% are away for health reasons or work careers that either take them out of town or totally consume their available time.
The Rotary Club of Saskatoon members volunteer at morning and lunch shifts at the Friendship Inn and “ring the bells” for at least two days every Christmas season on behalf of the Salvation Army. In addition, donations are offered locally to the Restorative Action Program (RAP), to the King George School (where children get to pick Christmas gifts for their parents) and Bethany Homes. Internationally, the club supports Becas (a scholarship program for Mexican students), Hope for Malawi (building schools and developing medical and dental services in that country), Joy’s Centre (helping young children in Uganda) and ShelterBox (disaster relief).

The club has not been involved in Youth Exchange programs for the last two years but plans to make a concerted effort to seek out out-bound students for next year so that club members can once again host foreign exchange students.
