Editor’s Note: Pat has spent the bulk of this project describing the Fundraising event. As a long time runner of road racing, this is the nuttiest “Fun Run” I have ever heard about.
The Nipawin Passport Club’s current project is the construction of a new Family Resource Centre. Nipawin is one of the seven communities in Saskatchewan who will be receiving government funding to aid in the development of a Family Resource Centre.

To accomplish the Family Resource Centre we are planning on using the proceeds from our fourth annual Colour Run, which is scheduled for June 8, 2019. The “Run” idea originated with the Rotary Club of Hudson Bay and is organized in conjunction with the Town of Nipawin.

In the past, we have donated towards a new Skate Park and Swimming Pool improvements.

The 5 Km walk/run through Regional Park sees participants “blasted” with brightly coloured nontoxic cornstarch at 5 different stations. The stations are one km apart, plus our local Fire Dept also sprays foam onto the walkers for extra fun. The children love it!

You have got to click through to this article in The Record. It contains great pictures from the 2017 Run

The cost is $30.00 for anyone over age 8, others are free. We allow strollers but no bikes or dogs. Each one receives a T-Shirt with the event logo on the front and all sponsors’ names on the back, a race Bib and a Granola Bar PLUS the privilege and fun of being colour powdered by your friends 5 times over and come out looking quite vivid!

Members of our Early Act club cool down participants by serving water at two stations along the course.

Local businesses pay $500.00 to sponsor a Colour Station for the privilege of tossing the colour. This funding, along with smaller donations by other businesses, helps to pay for the T-Shirts and colour powder and other expenses.

Prior to kick-off time, we sell extra small packets of powder for an early toss among friends, have music and invite an exercise trainer to do a warm-up, then the run begins!

A BBQ and social time are shared by all after completion and everyone leaves happy and replenished.
