Members of the Brandon club, thirty per cent of whom are women, enjoy their fellowship, take ownership over what is happening in their community, and volunteer readily when help is needed, regardless of how busy they are.
The club works closely with many different organisations.
Since the future hinges on younger people and the broader sections of the community, Brandon Rotary is committed to reaching out to ethnic groups, all of whom do get involved in their community. The club also wishes to pursue more involvement with its indigenous community, so it becomes a better reflection of the people living within the city.
The club has a blend of local (Westman Wine Festival, Book Sales, Annual Burger Days) and international projects (9/11 Memorial Site Cleanup, Ripple Effect, ShelterBox).
It is making headway in encouraging long and short-term youth exchanges and sponsoring students to take part in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp experience as well as the “Rotary Adventures” series of programs.
