Members describe their club as very friendly, inclusive and their fellow Rotarians as an eclectic group who have fun, exhibit both frivolity and seriousness and are easy to get to know. One member, a woman, mentioned that she felt included in everything and that when she attends a club meeting, “I feel like I come home.” All members “get things done and make things happen” and want to do good in the world, locally and internationally.

Together with a Rotary club in Canmore the Winnipeg West Club has donated over a million dollars throughout ten years to an orphanage in Mexico. It also supports water projects in Uganda and Mexico, as well as the eradication of Polio around the world. Winnipeg West is also the club that started the Ripple Effect program in Guatemala.
Locally, the club:
- supports Rossbrook House (a neighbourhood drop-in centre for children, youth and young adults),
- organises a barbecue for newcomers to Welcome Place (a refugee settlement agency),
- feeds an entire school once a year during the club’s Chickenfest,
- holds a Christmas party for the air cadet squadron and
- supports the camp program of the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba.
The club also takes part in Rotary-organized activities like the Model United Nations Assembly (MUNA), Rotary Adventures in Human Rights (RAHR), and Rotary Youth Exchange programs.
