Volunteers from the Rotary Club of Winnipeg-Charleswood built eight raised garden beds at Westgrove School in Westdale on Thursday, June 7th.
The project was spear-headed by Rotarian Mandy Kwasnica, the club’s 2018-19 President. The work of the volunteers was supported by local businesses who supplied lumber, hardware and plastic sheeting (McMunn & Yates), and a truckload each of gravel and garden soil (Beaucage Lawn & Garden).

The next day, Westgrove students planted their gardens using starter plants such as pumpkins, squash, onions, peppers, cabbages, cucumbers, tomatoes and seed potatoes. They were donated by K Bosch & Sons Greenhouses.

Mother nature helped out by sending rains once they were finished. The students will continue to care for their garden during the summer months.
