District 5550’s 2011-2012 list of club fundraising activities has just been released with 41 of 48 clubs reporting.

Far and away the most frequent and important fundraising event is a dinner.  When combined with breakfast and luncheons fully 22 club events use meals as a way to raise funds.  Together they raise about $300.000 for Rotary’s “service” to others.

Much further back, each with about five  participating clubs, are such activities as

Wine Festivals, Lottery Licensed events, Book sales and Auctions.

There are also some unique and quite lucrative events such as The Pas’ Ice Fishing Derby, Hudson Bay’s rental of a quarter acre of land, Winnipeg’s Rotary Career Symposium and Saskatoon Nutana’s Dragon Boat Festival which together account for another $300,000 in revenue.

Combined for 2011-2012 the 41 clubs projected fundraising goal is in the $1.13 million range, that is an average of over $27,700 per club.
