The following is a short extract from his obituary:

“While Doug contributed to many community organizations, it was the Rotary Club that grew to take the largest role in Doug’s volunteer activities.

Doug embodied the principles of the Rotary Club through fellowship and living the four way test: 1. Is it the Truth? 2. Is it Fair to all concerned? 3. Will it build Goodwill and Better Friendships? 4. Will it be Beneficial to all concerned? Any who knew Doug can immediately recognize him in those questions.

Feature Story on Doug and Dona from Flin Flon Reminder 2015-02-09

Doug played a significant role in many elements of the Flin Flon Rotary Club: executive leadership, Rotary Radio Days, Rotary Bingo, Operation Red Nose, the Youth Exchange and more.

Doug’s largest commitment to Rotary, however, came in 1998/1999 when Doug took more than a year away from radio to become the District Governor for Rotary District 5550. The highest leadership role that one can have at the regional level, this had Doug and Dona log thousands of kilometers as they visited 47 clubs throughout Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Northern Ontario.”
