To highlight World Polio Day in Saskatoon, the city's five Rotary clubs and Rotaract Club joined forces to promote and raise funds for the final push to eradicate the disease.

October 24th started with breakfast at 7:00 a.m. at the Meewasin Rotary Club's regular meeting and then Rotarians hit the streets with money containers and pamphlets in hand from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m.

"We truly made a statement, decked out in bright neon T-shirts that had END POLIO NOW on the front and our ROTARY on the back," said, ADG, Donna L. Birkmaier. Then added, "We were seen by and spoke with many Saskatoon citizens on their way to work, and were generously rewarded by many donations."

Fellow ADG, Dorothy Hudson added, "We have had two electronic billboards for the past couple of weeks showing our Mayor and former Lieutenant Governor with their hands demonstrating that we are 'this close'.  We have had many interviews and can say with pride that the message is out there. "
