The District 5550 Nominating Committee, chaired by PDG Cam King, will be inviting  clubs to nominate a club member for the position of District Governor for the Rotary year 2010-2011. Members of the Nominating Committee include PDG Doug Mortin and PDG Rick Felstead.

As all Rotarians know, on July 1 each year, a new Governor takes over the rights and responsibilities for the District.  On November 3, 2010, our District Governor will hold the distinction that no other Rotarian in the World can claim - the Centennial Governor of the actual first meeting of Rotary outside of the United States. The Rotary Club of Winnipeg is the Club that made Rotary international.

Now that we have your attention, we hope that qualified Rotarians will seriously consider applying for the Governors position. A candidate must have been a Club President and must demonstrate willingness, commitment and ability, physically and otherwise to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the Office of Governor.

The position is a wonderful opportunity. There are plenty of travel opportunities, meeting some of the finest people in our world.  You won't be alone  the Past District Governors want you to succeed and are willing to assist you in every way possible. Rotary International is noted as one of the top associations in the world.  As Governor, you are the leader, mentor, and guide for our great District. It will be a life changing experience with many rewards.

Application forms will be sent Nov 9, 2007 to all Club Presidents and Secretaries or contact me directly at stirlng@mts.net and the application form will be forwarded directly to you.
