ImageMelfort Memorial Gardens is not a campground but members of the Melfort Rotary Club spent the night there on August 24 to raise money for ShelterBoxes to be sent to East Africa. 
 
On Thursday, August 25 the Rotary Club held a fundraising barbecue next to the tent so that people from the community could have lunch, walk through the tent and view all the equipment that is supplied within the shelter box.The Rotary Club of Melfort raised over $18,000, enough to purchase 18 ShelterBoxes to send to East Africa.
 
For every eligible dollar donated by Canadians to the East Africa appeal up to September 16th, the Canadian Government will set aside an equivalent dollar for the East Africa Drought Relief Fund, which will be allocated to humanitarian organizations working in the region and will be administered by the Canadian International Development Agency.
