The new Rotary Adventures in Human Rights program which is a collaborative effort with the Rotary World Peace Partners and the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, will be piloted this summer starting on August 16th until the 23rd. The target group will be a maximum of 24 high school students entering grades 10 and 11 in the fall of 2015.

The mandate and goal of the program is to provide students with an opportunity to explore human rights issues within the Canadian Museum for Human Rights by focusing on the following three themes: Women’s Rights, Indigenous’ Rights and Democratic Rights.

Although the majority of the program will be held at the Museum there will be visits to various non-governmental organizations and Winnipeg locations in order to see positive action in progress in the area of human rights.

At the end of the program, students will have an opportunity to design an action plan that they could implement within their schools. With their new found insights and knowledge in human rights and peace, students will see the value in continuing their peace journey by registering for the University of Winnipeg Global College course in future years.
We are encouraging all District 5550 Rotary Clubs to sponsor and assist a student from their area to apply to be part of this new initiative. The course fee is estimated to be $800.00.
