December is Family month on the Rotary calendar. It is a time when we like to include families and our extended families in club activities.

As we approach the end of yet another calendar year and the beginning of a New Year our thoughts turn to traditions and celebrations with family and friends.

Many of us look upon this season in different ways but for Hugh, myself and our family it is very special as we reflect what Christmas really means to us.  Many view it differently but to all of us it is a celebration!

Some of us will be busy baking and putting up trees, ringing bells and distributing hampers to the needy and as we do this let us be truly thankful for the many blessings that we have.

District 5550 has been able to assist the people in Nevlesk, Russia who experienced an earthquake, provide ShelterBoxes to Mexicans who were flooded; and raised almost $20,000.00 for the Polio Plus Project. Many of  clubs have also supported community service projects to help those that are less fortunate than us.

The Family of Rotary shares its talents, time and resources to help build lifelong friendships and relationships that bring about World understanding and Peace.

Hugh joins me in wishing you and your families a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year.
