Past RI Director Don Mebus is President’s Rep at District Conference in June
Rotary International Director 2006-2008, Zones 25 & 26
RI Director, Don Mebus has been a Rotarian since 1974 when his
father invited him into the Rotary Club of Arlington, Texas under the
classification of Insurance- Fire and Casualty. Don’s father and grandfather
were both members and past presidents of the club. He has served on many
committees in the club and is currently a member of the Webb Elementary School
Committee as a mentor and represented his club in Honduras working on projects
for medical clinics and education in the remote La Moskitia area.
For District 5790, he has lead a GSE Team to Germany, worked on a
committee for shipment of medical supplies to Children’s Sanatoriums in Soci,
Russia, and was a delegate to the 1998 Council on Legislation. Following the
COL in India, he and Carolyn traveled to Nepal where they participated in an National
Immunization Day (NID).
Multi district activities include a five year stint on the Lone
Star P.E.T.S. board of trustees where he was curriculum chair, operating chair
and finished as President of the board. He continues to be involved as a
training leader.
In Zone 26, he has been the coordinator for Member Education, area
coordinator for Community Concerns, Task Force Coordinator for Avoidable
Blindness, National Permanent Fund Advisor, and Regional Rotary Foundation
Coordinator. He has served several times as Zone Trainer for incoming District
Governors as well as the operating chair for the Zone Institute in Fort Worth,
Texas. In addition, he served two terms as International Training Leader and in
2003, was a trainer of the Training Leaders in Anaheim prior to the
International Assembly. He has been elected as a member of the Rotary
International Board of Directors to serve July 1, 2006 to June 30, 2008.
He is a Major Donor, a Bequest Society member and has received the
Rotary International Service Above Self Award. Carolyn and Don own and operate
Business Insurance Technologies. They have been married for 40 years, have one
married daughter and two grandchildren.
Carolyn
has accompanied Don on many Rotary adventures including the National
Immunization Day in Nepal and she has served as a round table discussion leader
at the International Assembly. She traveled to Nicaragua in early March to the
Children of the Dump Rotary mission. Carolyn is a member of the board of
Directors for Hope and Relief International, a non profit corporation to
promote health and education in Nicaragua.
