Moving into October, the District 5550 World Community Service and Grants Committee met in Russell Manitoba on the 2nd to 4th. Past projects and grants were reviewed and future plans drawn up. The grants committee has already announced the grants qualification seminars being held on line. All clubs are encouraged to have as many as possible attend the seminars to ensure you are certified to receive grant monies from the districts shared funds.

World Polio Day is coming on October 23rd.  Has your club planned something special to promote our fight against this crippling disease? We have almost succeeded in eradicating polio with only two endemic countries left and can use all the help we can get to finish the task. We can and will succeed!

Finally, plans are being developed for a Million Dollar Dinner to be held in conjunction with the district conference in Gimli, May 12th to 15th, 2016. It is hoped that the district conference web site will be on line soon with the registration module. The conference will be held at the Lakeview Resort and Conference Centre in Gimli. If you are calling ahead for rooms, please call them directly at 1-204-642-8565 and mention you are attending the Rotary District Conference.
